By the light of a pink moon | Jo Muir

23 May - 16 June

Botanically dyed cloth, thread, and cedar come together in a quiet body of work centred on remembrance, love, and belonging.

Artist Statement

This body of work began under the light of a pink moon.

There was a stillness in that time—a softness in the air that invited a deeper listening. I followed that feeling, working slowly with cloth, plant, and process, allowing each piece to unfold in its own way. Botanical dyes moved through the fibres like a quiet language, guided by time, temperature, and the unseen.

The energy of that moon feels held within the work—imbued in the very fibres, in each imprint and subtle shift of colour. Nothing is rushed. Each piece reveals itself gently, as if remembering what it already is.

Inspired by anamnesis, these works speak to a quiet return. Not something to be found, but something to be remembered—through the body, through the earth, through presence.

Each piece carries a blessing, an offering held in cloth. A moment of stillness. A space to return.

2026 Exhibitions

Deciduus & Cronjé presents a seasonal programme of invitational exhibitions, shaped through ongoing studio practice and long-standing relationships with artists.

After 25 years overseas, Grounded marks a return to New Zealand and a renewed sense of belonging. These pieces reflect the colours, textures, and calm rhythms of the local landscape. Trees, coastlines, and estuaries are recreated in glass, capturing both memory and observation. The exhibition explores home as a place and an experience that is carried and rediscovered. Vessels show connection and heritage, while landscapes hold moments of stillness, change, and time passing through layered glass and light. Please contact us about any of Hilary’s work for availability.

Artist Bio

Matamata-based glass artist Hilary Jowle’s practice explores landscape, memory, and the idea of what it means to call a place home. After spending 25 years living overseas, her recent work shows a renewed bond with Aotearoa—its natural spaces, gentle beauty, and the relaxed feeling that comes from familiar places. Jowle works mostly with stained art glass, creating carefully layered pieces that reflect both real scenery and deep personal meaning. Her art often draws from memories, family ties, and the small but important details found in daily surroundings.

Deciduus & Cronje Threshold by Santie Cronje 19 - 28 February

Threshold was a visual passage, bridging Cronje’s early chapters with the shift from retail to a new studio-led Deciduus. The works engaged in quiet dialogue across her practice, inviting the viewer through veiled layers, subtle gestures, and emotional resonance. The exhibition explored the space between what is held and what is revealed, between narrative and abstraction, and between the personal and the universal.
