"Mt Ruapehu #8“ by Nic Tucker. Small Original woodblock Limited Edition Print, sold unframed.
Woodblock printing is an age old craft originating in Japan and adapted by Nic to create her own unique landscape works. Each woodblock print is created using seperate wood panels that get 'inked up' and hand printed by the artist through a large printing press. Prints will therefore vary slightly in colour, with no two exactly alike.

Artist Bio
Nic Tucker graduated from Dunedin School of Art in 1992 with awards in painting, 3D work, photography and drawing. Born in Invercargill, she is from Ngai Tahu and Ngati Kahungunu descent and lived all around New Zealand. The land and its connection to the people is a big inspiration for her woodcuts. Nic enjoys travelling around the country to gather inspiration for her imagery and to reflect on the mana and beauty of Aotearoa, translated through her medium of choice, woodblock carving and hand printing.
Nic creates her original woodblock prints from her Hawke's Bay studio on a large printing press and she loves the challenge of printing up the larger major works. The works are a Japanese style woodcut in which each colour is an 'inked up' block of wood, until the final key or drawing block is printed over the top of the colours to make sense of the whole image."
